The Beckhoff EL7041 EtherCAT Terminal is a 1-channel motion interface for controlling 2-phase stepper motors with integrated incremental encoder feedback. As part of Beckhoff compact drive technology, it brings precise, space-saving motion control to EtherCAT I/O systems in machine building, material handling, and OEM automation.
Delivering up to 5 A at 8–48 V DC, the EL7041 supports uni-/bipolar stepper motors with 64-fold microstepping and configurable step rates up to 8,000 full steps/s for smooth, accurate positioning. The terminal accepts single-ended incremental A/B/C encoder signals at 5–24 V DC (up to 400 kHz with 4x evaluation), enabling closed-loop position verification and travel distance control. Distributed Clocks ensure synchronized motion across the EtherCAT network, while 500 V isolation between E-bus and field potential enhances system robustness. Direct motor and feedback connections, DIN-rail mounting, and an IP20 design simplify cabinet integration and wiring.
